Concentrate on getting some Paid or Voluntary Experience rather than qualifications ;)

Mostafa,

If you already have the General Certificate, you will not need to do Managing Safely (unless you wish to for revision purposes).

If you've already signed up for a Diploma level course, then fair enough.

However many forum members now progress via the NVQ 4 route if they are already employed in the Health & Safety field.

It's a case of working to your own strengths. If you enjoy academia, then go with the Diploma. If you are more practical, then the NVQ 4 route may suit.

IOSH accepts both as prerequisites for Graduate Membership. See the following link for the membership structure:

You could attempt a specialism, in which case maybe the Construction Certificate or Environmental Diploma are options for the future.

I hope this helps.

To work in London i would consider becoming more specialised and perhaps consider doing an MA. You would need to know what specific area you wish to specialise in. Its easy to get a job consulting in London for an OK London wage but your gonna need a specialism to earn big bucks.

Thanks for the responses.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but which one will be easier to pass the diploma or nvq ?

Also i haven't got a clue in a area in which to specialise in. Has any one got any ideas of a good area to get into ?

Also once i have chosen the area i want to specialise in, i take it i will then have to study further into it after my diploma

Health & Safety is a never ending tasks of studying and updating whether you specialise or not. New and Old Legisaltion change on a daily basis.

MA = Masters yes

I also disagree with people who go for the easiest qualifications to pass, select the one thats of most benefit to you whether its harder or not.

I for one know of the easy routes, and its easy to spot on a CV when people have gone that way, its even easier to spot when you get someone in for an interview that they have gone the easy routes to becoming qualified.
