I passed the NEBOSH Gen Cert in June which was self funded, and since have been unsuccessful in trying to secure a H & S Role despite several interviews. I have been advised that I would need 12 to 18 months worth of experience in Risk Assessments before being considered for an adviser role.

I am looking ideally for work within London or Cambridge, but would consider relocation for the right package, whether it is an admin, assistant or advisor role in H & S.

If anyone is able to offer advice here (I know this is a recurring theme amongst this board) or is able to offer work experience within London or Cambridge, please contact me at NJH22@msn.com where I can forward you my CV.

Best wishes for 2007

N.Harris

I dont know why employers interview people then tell them they lack experience, surely they knew this from the application form!

Try the consultancies in SHP mate.

Had a friend in a similar postition he got a role as a health and safety administrator (glorified secretary) and within 4 months was offered a position as a safety advisor as the it became evident he was more than capable of doing the work.

Even if you don't get the promotion you will tend to find that the a good HS manager will throw work at you to see if you are up to it and to lessen their workload. So even if you don't get the promotion, I'm sure they would give you a written reference that you could present to support your application.
