after years of working on sites im thinking its time for something new.

ive looked at training providors for the nebosh general and construction certificate.

i'm looking at distance learning for both these courses, i did get some info from a provider who says i should do both courses at once as the construction is only an add on to the general.

have any you done either of these course via distance learning, if so, could anyone recommend a decent provider as they all seem to be around the same price.

one more thing
what are my job prospects if i do indeed gain both qualifications.

thank you

Craig, if you have already got significant construction experience it may not be necessary to do both. I would definitely get booked onto the Nebosh general but i'm not sure why your considering distance learning? Is there a specific reason for this? If not, why don't you complete the NEBOSH gen at night school. You ll get plenty of support from tutors and others on the course.

Chances of getting a job? Cant say for certain, it took me about two years of sending CV,s to get my first job. You could get one sooner but youll have to apply for alot and i got my first job with a company (consultancy) who werent even looking. I was lucky, hope you are to. Good luck.

cheers chris

at the end of the day, distance learning with the right advisors would be preferable because of commitments(all be it football, kids, working hours), i would like to work things out with other trainees but cant see how i can fit it all in.

i have looked at local campuses but they dont seem to do the course anyway.

i have e-mailed the open university, still waiting for a response.

i understand that the construction part of the course has its own exam, though i do have a cscs and cpcs cards, i was told that it wont be enough on top of the general certificate to pass the exam, however, he was working for a course provider so he might be on commision if you know what i mean.

cheers
