Posted By jason bigler Hi,
I want to do the NEBOSH Cert in Health and Safety, but cant seem to find a company who does it for around £500 as this is as much as I have to spend on the course so far. Any advice welcome. Based in London

Posted By Kevan Horne If you can cope with distance learning try Paul Randall and Associates - website address from the NEBOSH site - you should still have change from you £500 with Paul, and the material is very good.
Best wishes for success.

Who ever you use PLEASE make sure you ask them what their first time pass rate is, many colleges have poor pass rates. Also you need to ensure you are comparing apples with apples, for example many providers include the exam costs in their price, the cost of the materials, plus refreshments etc. This can be as much as an extra £250 on top of the course costs.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Regards
John

Posted By Andy Brazier Cost me £90 to register for the exam with Nebosh + £12 for two sets of past papers/examiners reports from Nebosh. Coleg Llandrillo in North Wales allowed me to sit the exams (including practical) and charged me nothing.
All my study material came from the internet. I reckon I spent about 100 hours studying. Not had my results yet.
Of course this is not an option for many. I would say I had a very good understanding of health and safety, but not the breadth of knowledge needed for the exams.
Mind you, I've not had my result yet.

Posted By leethorne Following on from Andy Braziers post, what are the requirements to sit just the exam only and is there anywhere on the internet that lists locations where you can do this?

Posted By Anthony Slinger North Notts College in Worksop is about 1 1/2 hours drive from Leicester. I think the price used to be around £450 due to funding from the LSC, so give them a ring. I did both part 1 & 2 diploma there and found them good. http://www.nnotts-col.ac...aflet.aspx?LeafletID=357

Posted By craig ellis check your local college and ask about there distance learning.
ours does it, the benefit is your tutor is on your door step, you get to use there library, but the best bit is you get 16 hours one to one with the tutor, i know theres was supplied by portsmouth university and that by all accounts is a feather in your cap on your cv if you can post a uni.
thing is, it was £700, over to you.

Posted By AjSaunders As stated earlier by John - it is very important that you ascertain the providers pass rate in relation to national average before making your choice.
I myself am a Nebosh examiner and lead lecturer for a local college (Scotland) and we have 100% pass rate to date (3 years) - still waiting on results from December 06 exams, but fingers crossed. The college i work for charges £875 + £90 for fees.
I think this is an excellent price considering what the course offers, the experience of the lecturers and the support the candidates receive. The cheapest price is not always the best option, just as the most expensive price isnt always the best option.

Posted By Dave West Distance learning may be a good idea. I did mine through RRC and they have a good pass rate and access to tutors all week.
All i say is you have to be disciplined but there is a support site out there that i used which was great and free also.
