Posted By Alexander Falconer I am of course open to offers/suggestions to genuine parties (with valid contact details).
As I said before such details are between interested parties and myself, no one else.

Posted By anon1234 Appreciate that you may not want to indicate a specific salary, but a range would be useful, it doesn't commit you - just indicates whether we can afford you. As with flexibility on location, if you ain't willing to relocate then that may limit your options - no point in finding out your the perfect person for the role if you won't relocate.
Apologies if any offence was caused with the question.

Posted By Steve Ferrett Cant understand why I am slightly less qualified and experienced Tech IOSH, AIIRSM with six years H&S experience in a much more demanding environment(The middle East). Just about to sit my first diploma exam, willing to relocate and have manners and I don`t get a response...
Bemused!!!!

Posted By Alexander Falconer Anon, apologies accepted, and no offence taken.
As I previously stated, would be willing to relocate if an acceptable salary package was offered.
In saying this, the salary range will differ depending on location, however you could constitute a ballpark figure of £35K upwards plus benefits.
In terms of relocation, wha you also have to remember it is more difficult for an employee to relocate from Scotland to say South England, than one from the South relocating to Scotland.
At the end of the day, I expect to be considered for a role based on my own merits and achievements, rather than fitting into the salary.
In my lifetime I have seen too many H&S personnel who were matched on the basis of salary, and were clearly unsuited to the role.
This guy ain't one of them!
Steve, whilst you may be working in a more demanding environment???? Perhaps you are not selling yourself as well as you think!
Perhaps we can compare notes and help one another?

I would guess it is the heat and the fact it is one huge construction project, I stand to be corrected though.

Posted By Steve Ferrett The reason it is a much more demanding environment: Think of the UK before the HASAW Act 1974 and go back about another 50 years.
Try explaining the benefits of good H&S culture...Do you think you`d get far??
Luckily there are an increasing number of ex-pat H&S Professionals working hard to bring H&S to the forefront of business employers!
It`s difficult but things are slowly changing, it requires dedication and an appetite to convince people to take H&S seriously.
Please email me if you require any more information of how difficult but rewarding a job it is in the Middle East.
Cheers ...Salam Alikum

Posted By Joe Doc Steve,
I work in the West of Scotland and have to tell you the challenges of dealing with managers who still operate in the times ..." before the HASAW Act 1974 and go back about another 50 years."..... are alive an well in my neck of the woods.
Seems I have more in common with the Middle East than I thought.....yip it's a small world right enough!!

I ma interested in working in middle east, my former colleague works in Iraq now advising a construction company on security and safety matters, and he earns $200,000 a year .
He told there is an opportunity for me if I wanted to join him.
Any advice?

What are you waiting for? If you have no ties and all the appropriate qualifications, knowledge and experience you will wait a long time in the UK for that sort of financial return!
Good luck

Posted By Alexander Falconer I am finding it annoying that the number of personnel that have unintentionally hijacked this thread, the subject has now been detracted from its original purpose - to make personnel aware that I am on the lookout for another opportunity, and not a discussion on whether it is worthwhile to work in the middle east.
