Qualified Fire Safety Officer and have passed NEBOSH GC and undertaking Fire Cert at the moment. Can anyone give advice on what to do next, will be leaving RAF after 24yrs have also completed various IOSH accrediated EP courses. Would like H&S employment or Fire safety but what courses would be best to do after Fire Cert exam in June. Would appreciate any career advice from ex forces or ideas many thanks rob

Think about starting the NEBOSH Diploma prior to your exit date. They take some time to complete but the resettlement fees are seperate to your accommodation fees (another budget)and you will also have to add some of your own money to do it. Resettlement grant is circa £530,I believe. The providers normally include 33 days of hotel acc. for the dip course. Starts in Apr and ends in Jan following year, with one based in Carlisle. There are other dates of course.
As an alternative, you could go down the NVQ Level 4 route which will cost approx £2,000 plus (no acc).

Posted By Exdeeps Hi Rob, First, be very jealous of the resettlement time that you are entitled to - Take every day you can, making sure it is what you want, not what the advisors think you want. Ask training providers for their pass rates to compare them and look for references too. Also, learn that strange language that sounds like the language that you speak but is actually called "Civvy speak" it is a lot different. Finally do not write a cv that lists all your previous posts chronologically but instead give generic job descriptions in that new language you have just learnt, Good luck with the resettlement Jim
