Hi all
I've been an interested reader of this discussion board for the past year as I've been searching for new challenges in H&S.
I'm finding it frustratingly difficult to find a new start in my career. I do like where I work but the opportunities for progression or advancement are very limited here indeed.
I've been working in the EHS field for over 8 years now. The last 5-6 years for a Medical Device/Pharma company in Ireland. I've extensive experience in all aspects of Health & Safety, especially Hazardous Chemicals/Drugs/Pharmaceuticals, Industrial Hygiene (Noise & Haz Agent Exposure)& related control strategies. I've excellent overall/general experience, as the H&S management system was very much underdeveloped when I began here & now is at a stage where we would anticipate being OHSAS 18001 compliant.
It's been suggested by a couple of colleagues that my experience is extensive enough to enable me work in consultancy role. However this type of position hasn't really cropped up at this stage.
I'm also been looking at opportunities in the construction industry. During a major site extension at my current place of work, I developed a lot of interest & significant experience in that sector. However I don't seem to have the required experience for most contractors or some may be worried that my experience is too manufacturing industry based.
Are there part-time construction safety courses out there to further develop my skills/qualifications? Is anyone out there interested in my skills/experience/qualifications on a consultancy basis? I can forward a CV if necessary.
Tks
P
PS I forgot to mention I've also experience in ISO14001 & IPC/EPA Licensing.

Padraig,
If you are interested in contruction maybe you could think about doing the Contruction Nebosh Cert. If you are living anywhere near the north there are evening courses available in most COllege Institutes ie Newry, Derry.

We are relocating to Ireland, I have had four interviews just last week. I was scrolling through the forum and I wondered if you had made any progression.
