Hi there,

I looking for any health and safety role (oil & gas industry preferred) but like most inexperienced people looking for jobs in HSE i am struggling to get any relevant start.

I have a business and management background working as a Property manager. I have a Bsc in Geography from my home country in Nigeria. I have Msc. in Management from a recognized institution in Scotland.

Hold on please! Also, I have a lead Auditor Certificate in Quality Management Systems(ISO 9000:2001) and i passed my Nebosh General certificate a month ago.

My plan is take on the Nebosh Specialist Dip in Environmental management but, i can't because i don't have a job relevant to Health and Safety.

I live in Aberdeen, Scotland where most of the oil and gas companies are located and i have spoken to some of them. Their replies are similar; they all say i have good qualification but unfortunately, they have so much work going on , probably in the North sea and that someone without oil & gas experience or HSE experience can't fit in immediately.

There are loads of opportunities for HSE professionals in the North sea and Aberdeen but some of the companies think of the short term and are not ready to take on people without sufficient experience in these areas.

Whatever the case might be i hope to get the opportunity at some point. But i hope i don't go broke taking one course after the other.

Can someone please give me clues or contacts for any HSE opportunity. I really don't mind the position, paid or voluntary. Also i don't mind getting temporary experience in the middle east, Africa or any other part of the world. I am very flexible.

Your response is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Mike
