Posted By William I think you should think about getting some offshore experience in another area to start with at most company's will not look at you if you have not done your survival and had a few trips offshore at least. There are plenty of jobs out there in the oil industry but getting a start is hard going, they all want experience in a heavy engineering industry or offshore experience, they will like the tech osh and nebosh, but probably ignore the bsc dip, unless it is international. In around 6 weeks there will be plenty of opportunities to get a start offshore, but there is nothing at the moment for anything. The shutdown season starts then and it is the annual maintenance work which is done, getting a start in the drilling should be easy enough, but the courses such as your greenhand course and BOSIET (survival) will set you back almost 2k.
