I am 55 years old and still very fit have been scaffolding since i was eighteen, have been chargehand ,foreman, design assistant, projects manager, technical sales director, director, managing director and sole proprieter, have citb advanced scaffolder card since 1970's.
Would like to move into training to pass on my experience and hopefully help young and upcoming scaffolders to avoid the pitfalls and bad practices that are still prevelant in the industry.
Have read some other threads with reference to training accreditation, but there do not seem to be any clear requirements, can anybody tell me exactly which qualifications i need to work for a CITB registered training organisation and instruct trainees in all aspects of scaffolding including advanced scaffolding.
Thanks John

Hi John,
Hows it hangin?, I recently got intouch with Chris Barrett ,Principal at C.I.T.B. Birchham, I asked him the very same question, his reply was he did not know at this time because the Government are re-engineering the qualifications required to teach as an Industrial Trainer,However it was intimated that it would consist of,Level 2 Maths + level 2 English + 2000 hours teacher Training. I have instructed my M.P. to lobby Alan Johnstone
inister for Education for clarification and an up date RE: qualifications...can I send you an up-date when I receive an answer?...I am presently in talks with Aberdeen College, we are discussing the possibility af creating a Facalty of Scaffolding/Rigging... this Facalty is under consideration for inclusion to the Government proposed Oil and Gas Academy...
Please read new thread posted to-day (24 March) discussion forum item...Goverment commits to Oil and Gas Academy...
You are the type of Trainer required for this new Government initiative...Please contact me with your thoughts...
Fraternal regards, Garry...A brother Scaff...

John O`sullivan,
Is this the same John who worked for Brogan Scaffolding? Any case look up Simian Risk Management and speak to Simon Hughes or Ian Fyle, tell them John Houlihan asked you to ring and you will not get better advice.
