After reading other peoples threads in my position it looks like this could be a long hard struggle. I proposed to my boss to become H&S qualified to try and differentiate our brokerage from our competitors and offer risk management and H&S advice to clients. This they were at first happy with and I completed and passed the General Certificate. However when they found out I would need the Diploma also, they have decided that this avenue is not worth pursuing. I have carried out a risk assessment and written a H&S report for my employer, not that anyone would know or appreciate if it is any good. But that is the extent of my experience. I live in Ipswich and have a family to support, but it would appear that i lack either the Diploma or most crucial the experience. I cannot even seem to get a trainee or junior role, because of the drop in wage required or lack of vacancies. I am willing to travel around and to London, but it would appear that I am already far behind my competitors. I am confused that I can offer to do risk assessments to charities, when I was of the understanding that I could do very little with only a Certificate. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
