I am MIOSH and was a Safety Adviser for BBC Engineering for almost 20 years - I still undertake some Consultancy work specialising in RF (Radio Frequency).

My daughter is just completing the second year of a HSEM Degree at Aston under Prof.Richard Booth.As a mature student she will not be taking a year-out placement but is looking for a H&S role over the summer to gain some hands-on H&S experience before undertaking her Final year of study. We are based in the Midlands but she would work anywhere.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would be grateful if they could contact me.

All was going well until I read the R Booth bit ....joke! I have fond memories of learning under him and Hanni Raffat at Aston

We may be able to help - we are one of the largest health and safety consultancies in the South West, and are based in Plymouth - we normally take one or two students over the summer - we have taken them directly from Plymouth University or via a placement which is organised by Shell - called STEP - if you email Julie.r@noble.uk.net then she can put you in touch with STEP -

Thanks to all who replied with offers of a work placement for the summer for my daughter (end of 2nd year HSEM degree at Aston)

I am glad to say that she has found employment with a Consultancy locally.
