Posted By Dubai Safety Interesting question, as most people have no idea when they first go overseas on the legal requirements or cultural aspects of health and safety. As for dubai, the Health & Safety structure is similar to the UK, with companies health and safety systems based on the UK and USA legislation. Most organisations are also using OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001 standards. Interesting point is that most health and safety managers working in the Middle East region come from the UK. So they have a major impact on the type and style of health and safety in the region. I am also speaking on this very subject at health and safety conference in the USA in May. If you would like a copy of my presentation, please send a email / contact details to harrissafety@hotmail.com. and I will send it to you after the conference. Regards

Posted By Mark R. Devlin Hi Sean, I cant speak for Dubai but I have been working here in Victoria in Australia since August last year. In Victoria (Australian states have their own HSE laws and regulators) the legislation is very similar to the UK but we don't have the clutter of European Directives, meaning that the Victorians can influence and set their own laws. Oh, and the weathers nice too.....
