Posted By mark limon I have put a couple of posts on here in the past with no success. One contact did sound promising then disappeared. I still read the posts with interest at least every couple of days and most of the replies seem to be from agencies which are then deleted. I wonder if prospective employers actually read this forum now because its very rare to see a successful conclusion to a post. I do find it useful though to see how people present themselves on here, although seeing some of the very highly qualified people posts virtually ignored is not very comforting for us lesser mortals

Posted By CFT Mark You do at least have a 'live' contact name and as such, anyone wishing to respond to you should do it directly to avoid any potential breach of forum usage and end up being moderated , which as you correctly suggest, it ends up being removed. This would go for anyone wanting to advertise themselves as being available, get that link live or you could be just wasting your time. If someone wishes to ask you for a CV, then they may as well do it directly thus avoiding a probable breach of 'acceptable use guidelines' which of course inevitably will lead to the removal of the response. I hope this answers your question satisfactorily. CFT

Posted By SAF Yes! Works for me as I generally get a good response when looking for new assignments. Seems now the emphasis has shifted onto employers and agencies to contact individuals.

Posted By Paul Clarke-Scholes MIOSH Yes, the proof being that I got to your post having started with todays and have sent off several requests for CVs (cue frantic checking by those I passed over!)

Posted By GDavidson Yes - it definitely works. I wouldn't be employed in a full-time H&S role if it wasn't for this forum. Managed to find that illusive entry-level role as a Junior Planning Supervisor (now CDM Co-ordinator) with just a NEBOSH Cert and limited experience. When I get to the stage that it's me doing the hiring, I will definitely be putting a post on here to attract the right kind of candidate. Regards, G Davidson

Posted By Bill Collins Hi Mark, I understand your frustration but from the responses that people in oil/gas or CDM fields get, clearly it does if you have the right skills/experience. I've posted on here with not much response because my experience is basically genaralist and in 18001/14001. I'd work in CDM tomorrow and for less money but if you aint got the experience, the offers can be few and far between.. s'pose like everything else its about supply and demand. Bill

Posted By 9-Ship I rarely post on any forum board now, since the job adverts were banned - I find there is little new, the same questions all of the time and no jobs to look at. This forum is now much worse. Even though I work in the oil/gas safety engineering world, most of the best jobs are never advertised on this site or even suggested at, anymore. I would go so far as to say, for what I do now, IOSH is of limited use to me and I am strongly considering not renewing membership

Posted By Paul Clarke-Scholes MIOSH Actually, on reconsidering the subject, and I am back here looking for recruits, this could be done better. Its too haphazard, relying on random posts and people like me looking. Where are all this years graduates? And why not get consultants networking here? As soon as I have my new employee and hence time on my hands I shall pursue this further.
