Posted By Mostafa just wondering which one of these has more value, on the assumption you have 2-3 years health and safety experience already. NEBOSH diploma or a Health, safety and the environment Bsc link for it is http://info.uwe.ac.uk/co...se.asp?URN=13902&stream= thanks for your time

Posted By Bob Thompson CMIOSH Same outcome different routes, neither are of any value unless you have the experience and practical ability to perform. Most jobs ask for diploma or equivalent and CMIOSH which supposedly denotes an element of proven track record. this cam be obtained with either the Bsc or Diploma but its the experience that really gives you the edge. Posted By ITK BSc everytime. A degree will stand you in better stead in the long run, again to reiterate practical experience is also vital to progress in this field.

Posted By FJ By the way, check with the Membership Department (or use the link in the purple on the left) to see about what level of "membership" you will enter at- it is unlikely to be full "membership"- you need to combine relevant post-qualification experience (amongst other things) with your qualifications. There is a good flowchart available. It's a great profession to be involved in so even though you may be entering at a "lower" level its well worth persevering with. But please do check with the proper people. Good luck

Posted By Trevor Ross Go for the degree. I did an MSc in Occupational & Environmental Health & Safety Management. This was a three year degree course, but having done the NEBOSH Certificate I swore I'd never have anything to do with NEBOSH again.

Posted By Mint Do a degree. At least you will have meaningful exam questions that you can answer using standard English and not have to worry about silly NEBOSH-speak. I've got 2 degrees and started the NEBOSH diploma nearly 2 years ago. I hate it and wish I'd never started it. If I could go back in time I'd choose to do a H&S degree.

Posted By JJF They are totally diffent but for the purposes of IOSH as long as you are meeting CMIOSH requirements it is the same. As far as a BSC goes, it depends a lot on the university you choose. The NEBOSH dip however offers an equal exam challenge wherever you take it. I have done both NEBOSH Dip and a degree. The Dip wins hands down for me no question. I am talking about depth of knowledge and bredth. The degree was a country mile easier than the diploma. I was also very disheartened at what appeared to be "generic" assessments / projects being used by certain people in Uni. At least the Dip tests the knowledge of one person under exam conditions. Yes you have to remember things and the NEBOSH way so some say its a memory test but lets be honest, you need to know it to remember it. Good luck in your choice.
