Posted By seanpm I am interested in the standard of Life, Salary and general attitude to Safety in Aus. I have a primary degree in technology, masters of applied science in safety engineering and ergonomics, and I am a chartered member of IOSH.
Could someone please advise?

Posted By Emma Forbes From what I've been looking into, your qualifications are at a high enough level to gain entry. I think a Health and Safety profession is what they call a 60 point profession, which requires the applicant to have at least a degree qualification.
I also found that it's not just a case of walking into a state anywhere in Australia, as H&S professionals are not an Skill Shortage List, there is more demand in some states rather than others when looking for state sponsorship, namely Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania (if I remember correctly). If you are interested, I personally think it's better to pay a couple of grand and have an agency do the application for you. There are many changes coming up in the immigration process come September and they will be more familiar to those changes.
Good luck, from an extremely jealous health and safety person who who is studying like mad to gain entry!!

Posted By POC Seanpm, You should take a short holiday there first, just to get a taste of the lifestyle etc, and you will certainly know more then.
I am sure you know some people out there or some who are going before the end of the year!!!

Posted By KMB Rob,
It all sounds lovely, why oh why then do you want to come to the UK? I am considering - (very early stages) moving to Australia, but with as many people coming back here as there are going out - not so sure it is a good idea. after all, surely once you have gone out there having sold everything so you can set up out there - there's no coming back is there!? You wouldn't be able to afford it? I lived out there for a year and absolutly loved it, just family keeping me here - its a long way!
