Posted By mags1963 Hi
Some of you may remember I had asked for help as I had some interviews coming up - I'm thrilled to say I have been offered, and accepted, a role with a company as a Health and Safety Trainer/Consultant. I'm really looking forward to the challenge as I'd wanted to get into the training side more, especially as the role involves delivering Nebosh and Iosh training courses.
The downside is that I will be working away from home Monday to Friday, but as I'm single and my daughter is now 18, I'm in a better position than most to be able to take it on.
If anyone has any advice on the training aspect of my new role, I would be happy to hear from you as this will be relatively new to me.
Best of luck to all you striving to get where you want to be.

Posted By Teresa Budworth Well done Mags. I was a trainer and consultant for 18 years (before defecting to NEBOSH) and it is a brilliant job, which I still miss sometimes.
If you're going to teach NEBOSH courses I'd suggest you consider becoming an examiner; it gives you a good insight into what's actually required in the exams(rather than the myths), and helps you to help your students. Alternatively, NEBOSH also run some workshops for course providers including how to mark the Certificate practicals and one on NEBOSH Assessment from setting to results which gives you the opportunity to look at some actual scripts and marking schemes to see how they work.
Good luck in your new job, and enjoy!

Posted By mags1963 You can find information on becoming an examiner on the Nebosh website at www.nebosh.org.uk/news.asp Also, thank you for your advice Theresa, I hope I enjoy the job as much as you seem to have. By coincidence, I had already applied to Nebosh about becoming an examiner before I got the job and I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Regards Mags

1st of all may I offer my congratulations on your success.
With regards to advice re. training, you may like to consider the CIEH Professional Trainers Certificate. I recently sent a member of my team on this course, and they have come back with a completely new insight into training.
I can provide a company name / contact for the East Midlands area (please contact off forum), alternatively search the CIEH website for course details.
Once again congratulations
