Dear all,

Please excuse my frustrations but having worked on a plethora of major construction projects for approx. 20 years and then in a management position for over 7 years which included the completion of a NEBOSH Cert, H&S Dip followed by a BSc (Hons) in Safety, Health and Environmental Management I really thought I had the potential, competence and qualifications to find a H&S position back in construction. Unfortunately this is not the case.

A subject of great interest at the moment and one highlighted in the SHP is the requirement for 'transferable skills' in the H&S sector but one employers are not necessarily considering when seeking candidates.

If anyone has any advice on how I can chisel my way back into the construction sector I would be extremely grateful. Do I need to seek more qualifications? I did consider the CSCS professional card, which may help get my foot in the door but without it the door should not shut in my face.

My current roll is office based but all skills are transferable!!

Kind regards,

Chris

Christopher,

If you are in the North/Midlands area I would be sincerely interested in talking with you. I am not an agency and have a position in mind with a healthy mix of office and site based.

Regards

Ian
