I am a Chartered Member of IOSH and am considering applying for work as a health and safety practitioner in Florida, USA. Could any one assist me by providing any information on, say, British based recruitment companies or suitable web sites to help me search for employment? Thanks.

Hi, I attempted a similar exercise a couple of years back for Virginia area. Biggest problem is compatibility re UK and USA qualifications. Sorry didn't keep contact names or addresses. but as I recall the American society of safety engineers (think it's called that or a version of that)the USA equivalent of IOSH. did hold some info re vacancies and will advise re qualifications etc to allow you to practise in the USA.

Hi Andrew,

I saw an Advert on Television yesterday evening, it was a promotion that invited candidates to apply for Positions in Florida , it featured Big Arny, I never payed much attention... where to apply ect, it was just when I viewed your thread that I remembered, the advert was on national television perhaps someone else seen it too.

google Arny's Office ?...a good starting point...

Arny (the famous “gas guzzling” Humvie driving Environmental warrior) is the Governor of California, which is on the other side of the USA. He is featuring in a series of adverts for HOLIDAYS in California, not jobs and not in Florida.

good luck mate... i been applying for jobs in america and firing off my cv every week for last 5 years and never hear anything back... was even thinking of going on holiday to florida and claiming asylum from the taxman...
If anyone does know of a way to get employment in the states i would sure be glad to hear it too,,,
