Saf,
I think we all know what we would like it to be worth but we are not in the best paid profession.
If you look in the SHP this would attract 45k to 55k and these jobs are very few.
It's worth much more IMO.
I talk to other safety managers at my level in my field and the difference is massive. I think that IOSH did a pay survey last year you may want to check this?
You may start a bit of a debate here.

I would punt this at a start of 50k to a max (ish) of 70k and a vehicle, or allowance, probably the former and anything half decent will attract a 5-10k additional tax burden as a consequence. CL based bothers me a bit especially travelling out from and into; this will eat up the working week.
Again until guy/gal is sat in front of you it is hard to quantify at this stage with the limited (although indicative at least)information supplied.
The near six figure salary is no longer the elusive position or myth it once was, and for many companies it is a sensible annual budget to be on the right side of life; a quality position will also be able to specialise in other areas and reduce miscellaneous outgoings so it is as much an investment as it is a straight salary and perks.

Good points so far.
This would also depend on whether you can attract someone already in the region, or if you need to get someone to move into range of London. House prices are such that even if you have a £100K salary you cannot necessarily buy a reasonable family property anymore in sensible commutable distance.
I have contacts who are really struggling to recruit the right candidates into London now. Hence more flexible working arrangements are increasing and UK/location flexible positions.
I think I'll stay in Salford!

Just to throw one in!! Are there many 100k safety jobs out there? I don't know of any and I know a few Group Safety Managers.
I do recall seeing one for famous soft drinks company a couple of years ago for 80k.

Seen recent ads for permanent roles in SHP AT 90K, 75k etc.
Also variance is due to perceived risks
So they do exist...

There are occasional £100k+ jobs that do come up. These are usually HSE Director roles for blue chip companies. They usually feature in the Times and Telegraph and also via head hunters. Some aren't advertised.
If anyone is seriously hungry for cash, very experienced and can travel, interim management is often well paid, but obviously shorter term and the PI insurance can be a bit higher.

Thats DP, have also seen other jobs. Agree about being at director level.
Interim sounds interesting...

All
Think about it; at the six figure plus level you don't need to advertise the position through normal channels, there are many ways to recruit the person you want, advertising in SHP will not necessarily be the number one choice for certain employment sectors.

Fair point and agree CTF. Still not convinced that there are many though.

Case solved then. That's why all these people coming on here for a chance can't get one for you 100 granders hogging the dosh!!
Just thinking about it's nice!!
