Posted By Annabelle Hi, I've recently completed an MSc Ergonomics and am interested in working in the area of occupational health/work related musculoskeletal disorders etc. Does any one have any advice as to how to move into these areas? I am struggling to find consultancies or companies that provide these sort of services, or should I be looking at finding employment with Occ Health teams that are already part of a (large) company? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Annabelle

Posted By Annabelle Hi Jay, My background is in Occupational Therapy, hence my interest in work related musculoskeletal disorders/occ health etc. Yes there are a jobs around as a new grad ergonomist, I think most who I studied with are now working, however some people did not get a job straight after finishing. The main work seems to be in rail, transport, nuclear and military and not in the above areas as I am discovering. Good luck! Annabelle

Posted By helen gagg I am an ergonomics consultant and worked in an ergonomics consultancy for three years where one of their specialist areas was occupational issues such as MSD's. I would advise that you visit the Ergonomics Society website. They have a list of consultancies grouped be specialism's. Helen

Posted By Annabelle Hi Helen, Thanks for your post. Yes I have checked the consultancy list on the Erg Soc website, but did not find anything of interest. Would it be possible to know the consultancy you worked for? Regards, Annabelle

Posted By Ian Cunningham Hi Annabelle. I recently left the Public Transport Industry after 20+ years to study for my Dip in OSH. I'm not aware of you current location. May I suggest contacting Transport for London Occupational Health Services (0207 222 5600 - ask for Occupational Health Services) They look after all staff in the Underground, Bus Supervisory (not the bus operators - they're privately owned), Trams, River Services modes and I believe that Public Carriage Office - taxis - and Overland Trains have just come under their remit. I hope this is of use and good luck.

Posted By Angela Oakey-Jones Hi Annabelle, You could do a lot worse than contact ergonomics consultancies like Hu-tech or (in London) Milligan and Hill (in Bishopsgate) I hope you get settled somewhere soon. Angela
