Hi All,
I have just joined tonight and would like to know does anyone have any information or advice on the best way forward in getting started in Health and Safety as a career.
I have a NEBOSH General Certificate and currently work for a construction company as a Contracts Administrator in Glasgow, but the only H & S experience I have is to compile H & S manuals when the contracts are complete.
I have registerd or sent my CV to various agencies to see if they can help.
My other option is to approach companies direct and speak to their H & S Manager and ask the question and submit CV.
Because I don't have a lot of H & S experience it is proving very difficult for me to crack into this type of industry.
I would really appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks
Lynda

Linda,
Do not get downhearted during your search for a H&S position it took me almost a year to get my first proper H&S job.
Ask your current employer for more H&S responsibilities and build your experience from there. It may be more beneficial doing this than looking for a position that may throw you in at the deep end. Grow through experience and when the time is right move on.
I also started out in the West of Scotland (Greenock) and I'm now living and working in Dubai.
All the best,
Gary
