Posted By Ian Hi there, I've just been browsing this section and although I wasn't going to post I thought it may be beneficial to me to. I sadly got made redundant, I did my NEBOSH Certficate in my previous role which was Training mainly, but in Children's Services so it had a huge amount of Health and Safety within. I decided to do my NEBOSH Diploma this year and enter in into the majority of health and safety, after a few long months over xmas in other roles, it's just become apparent what I should of done ages ago! However, I'm unpracticed at interviews, which I know only experience is going to give me the preparation I need, however, I'm just wanting anyone elses 'experiences' and thoughts on these two things.. The job is with a Housing association for a Health and Safety Officer; I've been informed that there is a Hazard Awareness Test, a presentation, together with an interview. "The Hazard awareness test will be times, practical test which will take between 30 - 45 minutes. In addition to this test could you please preapare a 20 minute presentation on the subject of Fire Safety Awareness. As part of the brief you must assume that your adduience consisters of new staff undergoing induction, using any relevant handouts and presentation techniques you feel are appropriate. A laptop etc etc! I'm panicing as I've got only a FEW days to do this, and the job is over 5 hours drive from me, I don't want to waste their time and want to do an AMAZING job.... If any one has time to have read this and reply, or email (morgans-motorsport@hotmail.co.uk) I thank you kindly in advance.... Ian

Posted By Vicki Pugh When you did your NEBOSH Certificate the practical exam is hazard spotting and writing a report..... remember? Well, this sounds like exactly the same thing. It should be a case of walking around asking questions about the type of activities, people, building usage and control measures already in place. If they are asking for a Fire Awareness presentation following this I would try to keep Fire at the forefront although you may spot some more obvious hazards. Hope that helps.
