Posted By Jon Kelly Hello All I completed my NEBOSH General Certificate in 2007 and have since been looking for work. However as most of these posts mention, many companies these days require experience. I am so desparate and have a passion in pursuing my career in this profession. I have 10 years of Retail experience and have mainly worked within the Food Industry. I am willing to travel or alternatively find lodgings in London and travel from there. Unfortunately we cannot relocate due to financial constraints. Is there anyone out there that could give me the opportunity gain practical experience in the area I specified or another industry. Thanks

Posted By Jon Kelly Yes still looking but Nottingham is too far for me as I'd have to travel by train as my wife has the car most of the time. I would be able to get accommodation in London and travel by train or bus to Lincoln from Grimsby where I live. Thank you for enquiring and hopefully something comes up for me soon. Regards, Jon

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Unfortunately, not having independent transport will severely compromise your chance of employment as many firms will only pay a car allowance instead of providing a pool or own use for business car. You are now putting yourself into office based work only. My last seven years have been commuting daily from Grimsby, first to Coventry (Nightmare!!), then Sheffield (65 miles each way), now to Hull (40 miles each way). Without my own vehicle, I would have struggled to gain any of these employment chances, especially as two of them were multi site functions. I do,however, personally wish you every success and hope that you find something soon. Last week's Grimsby Telegraph on Wednesday had a safety opportunity for advisors? Did you catch that one?

Posted By Glyn Atkinson The vacancy in Gainsborough requires own transport - two sites, one new production unit about to be constucted at the other side of the river starting next year - looking to employ right at the bottom end of the pay scale - no other benefits either. CDM experience is essential for that role ! This is the second agency and third job advert for this role!

Posted By Jon Kelly Thanks Glyn unfortunately I don't have CDM experience and the wife needs the car twice a week.... she's a full time mom. I am currently working at Sainsbury's Grimsby (10 years) and have been building up a Health and Safety portfolio whilst I've been looking for work. An opportunity is all I require to get into a field to gain the practical experience so desparately needed. Regards,Jon

Posted By cdthomas Hi everyone, I am in the same situation, I have just passed the NEBOSH Cert with a credit, have always worked in the warehousing/manufacturing sectors and now looking for a change of career into H & S. I currently live in York but will be moving back to the lincs area shortly, however I do have my own transport with no commitments and am more than willing to travel or relocate for the perfect job-nottingham is not too far for me. If that job or anymore are available then please get in touch with me. I will be studying the Construction Cert as well as the Fire Safety to gain more knowledge before tackling the Diploma as it costs too much money for me to fund on my own whilst not in a H & S post. I am desperate for my first break, have bombarded all the agencies and major construction firms to no avail-there MUST be something out there for me and others like me??????? Any help would be appreciated. chris email: cthomas.blue@hotmail.co.uk thanks
