I'm currently a full time safety manager for a major tyre manufacturer in Dundee.
I've been in safety since 93 when I started as an inspector with the HSE then moved into consulting and now as a safety manager for a site with around 700 people.

I'm interested in re-addressing my work life balance and looking into part time work - say 3 days per week.

Anyone else done something similar?

Basically the good life becons and I've bought some land to go all smallholder-ish!

Job share by agreement with your current company - train someone up as a starter to glide into your position as more good life embraces you?

By the way - shouldn't you be retiring at 93?

Sorry, couldn't resist !

Kevin,

I was made redundant at 53 and am now self-employed, usually I only do three days a week, still a good earner. Quality of life is certainly better, just look at me sitting here in my dining room at 1.00pm on a Monday, surfing :o)

Hi Kevin,

there is part time work out there, but it is very rare. I do 3 days a week (shortly to be reduced to 2). You might also get the flexibility you want by doing consultancy - whether as a sole trader or via a consultancy co.

good luck
Sheila

Cheers folks - I was just sounding out for ideas. I am thinking of consultancy again but don't want to take the self employed route!

I'll let you know how the veg & chickens etc are doing in due course!
