Posted By Leon McManus Hi all, Just wondered if anyone had any advice for me. I have nebosh ngc with credit grade, union reps levels 1 & 2 with 5 years exp as a rep. As for employment exp I have been (deep breath) marquee erector, animal feed mill worker, wood cutter (forestry), meat porter in abattoir, (gas service, mains and escape worker), upvc window fabricator, labourer building site, sheep puncher abattoir, class1 lgv long distance driver, last 11years machine operator in solvent coating facility and doing part time safety advisor for two local firms. I have offshore survival and medical cert. I am looking for anything in H&S and wondered if I would have more luck overseas (on a rota system). Can anyone recommend any agencies etc that would be worth a try I am based NE Scotland and do not wish to relocate. Ps. I have my name in all the usual UK sites S1, monster, etc etc No not 60 years old only 42. Cheers, Leon

Posted By Glyn Atkinson I wish you every success in your hopes in attaining a safety position from a very interesting set of career moves - and your age should not be a factor in failure to attain any possible work ! I am totally curious however regarding one of your jobs ???? Is anaesthetic that expensive that you have to punch the sheep to put them out in the abattoir? I apologise, but I am like this since I started reading "The Far Side" comic strips by Gary Larson, and I tend to have the same "off the wall" imagination now. Too many HAZOP's with brainstorming technique sessions, perhaps ??

Posted By Leon McManus Hi Glyn and Robert Only had to punch the sheep that wouldn't eat the carrot. No its what you call the chap who has to remove their skin. As for career moves it was a case of staying in work rather than anything planned I have been lucky as I have never really been out of work probably due to the fact that I will try anything and as you can see, have. Many thanks for the email Robert I am already on their books but I will give them a call as I have never actually spoken to them. Cheers Leon
