Posted By Jim T Can someone please explain to me why threads from members requesting help finding work are locked by IOSH admin? Have I missed something? I was under the impression when I joined IOSH that the organisation was there to help H&S professionals? So....can anyone out there enlighten me as to how locking a members thread regarding looking for work can actually help he or she? Jim

Posted By willhiem Jim, Its to do with Recruitment agencies (grrr) posting more or less ads on the site while IOSH have there own pages for recruitment seperate to here. People can still contact the person who posts the comment through there email, so if you genuinely want to help someone out with a job etc you can, otherwise it saves this forum being overloaded by people posting job notices (more often than not recruitment agencies or person) which isnt strictly allowed under the rules of the forum. Some times you'd like to post a quick remark to help or guide people but now you cant, though ultimately i think its good, its direct for people who're looking for a job they either get an email or they dont!! .......................Awaiting full, frank and english version form IOSH crew...

Posted By IOSH Moderator First - look at the Acceptable Use Guidelines and the heading to the forum. Mentioning job vacancies is not permitted on the forums. We ask those who have openings to make direct contact with job-seekers. When someone posts their availability for work, we check that they have left their e-mail visible or have mentioned it in their message. Then the thread is locked, to prevent unecessary breaches of the site guidelines. Jane

Posted By Clive Ormerod IOSH does have an official site that is for job seekers and advertisers, this is at www.shp4jobs.co.uk However it seems that not that many people seem to know about it. So it might be worth giving it a visit.
