Posted By Andrew Lochlyn Ure Pete I'm in Oman so can't help you too much with Abu Dhabi - but what I would suggest is that you join the IOSH Middle East Branch, as they have members based there who I'm sure would be delighted to assist. Regards Andrew

Posted By Cheung Ho-Ming I am interested in working in Abu Dhabi as well. I am a CMIOSH and Chartered Civil Engineer. I made a visit there already and knows a bit about the environment. Can someone please advise me how I should start job searching? I was told that the local developers employ staff through agents only. Is it true? Please advise me. Thanks.

Posted By Andrew J Hi Pete, I relocated from Australia to Abu Dhabi with my family about 3 months ago. A couple of things I can say about here are we love it, but.... - Rents have skyrocketed in the last 6 months, so make sure your rent allowance is sufficient, - Clubs, such as the British Club are so over booked you may have to wait up to year to get membership. Most of the nice hotels have clubs but are very expensive and not many have spots left. - The traffic and parking situation is getting worse, not near Dubai levels, but every day it is getting busier. - If you intend on buying a car, before you get here ensure you get a claims history statement from your current car insurance provider - it will help reduce your insurance costs here (which are expensive for a new car and cheap for a second hand car). - I know you would have heard this before - but you will be arriving in the hottest, most humid time. There is plenty more I could tell you so if you want to know anything specific just let me know. Regards Andrew
