Hi

In terms of putting together a CV I would recommend the "Europass" It is an initiative of the European Commission and they have come up with a recommended format believe it or not!
You can download the pro-forma from their website.
For further advise on CV's I would point you in the direction of the "businessballs" website, plenty of content, and some excellent information on a wide range of subject matter.
Good luck with the CV, and remember to keep your CPD* record up to date, they are both interlinked documents.
One final thought do a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, do it in four equal boxes) on your self, and review annually. It is an excellent tool for self improvement / development.

Having reviewed many over the years, I still favour the CV that tells me what they have achieved with previous employers, and not what they want to achieve. This gives me the opportunity to see how those past achievements can directly relate to the post on offer.
If it is a non financial post, 'reduction, improvements, growth, support, team building' etc are areas I would be looking at.
I would also be looking carefully at your experience and how it applies to the industry the position is in.
