I didnt look that closely.I just noticed hundreds of vacancies advertised.A quick trawl through them shows a number where the GC is adequate but the salary is not that good.In fact a number wanting the diploma also dont offer a very good salary either, definitely a labour of love this safety lark.

I find this thread particularly interesting. The "SHP4jobs" webpage in part, is supposed to replace the facility that was hitherto offered on this forum. In the past I have obtained work via this forum on several occasions.
A week ago I posted a thread advertising my availability. This was "locked" by the IOSH web-team before any offers appeared. A week later, I have only received one genuine enquiry. (I did receive another from a person who thought I might like to spend my time collecting money from a dubious sounding charity).
I used SHP4jobs webpage earlier this week. The only contract opportunity in my chosen area, was a post that had been filled a week ago. I reported my concerns to the IOSH webpage team. Their advice included bringing this to the attention of the SHP4jobs organisers.
I had been under the impression that this facility was part of IOSH. Neverthelss I contacted SHP4jobs and discussed my concerns. I requested details of relevant contrract work. There was only one opportunity and guess what - it was the job that had been filled, by now, some 10 days earlier!!
"Jobs a plenty" there may be advertised on the SHP4jobs webpage, I wonder how many actual vacancies are included?
This forum has provided an invaluable facility for persons, such as myself, seeking contract work etc. SHP4jobs is not an effective replacement. I hope that IOSH will listen to its members needs. I certainly intend to attend my branch meeting next month and raise this issue. Perhaps members with similar views could lobby their branch meetings also.
I look forward to hearing other views, hopefully in support.

My contributory response was blocked, last Friday.
I have now posted a thread on the Members Forum on this subject. Any interested parties should refer to the other Forum please.

Jane,
I can confirm that Mark did place a thread on the main Forum yesterday and I was about to put a reply on to it but a pop up appeared stating that the web site was having a problem and the thread has now vanished.
Mark,
I agree with your comments especially regarding the SHP job website and the amount of time jobs are left on the site even after they have been filled
regards
Nutty

I to can confirm that Mark did place a thread on the main forum yesterday as I read it!
Mark,
I also agree with your comments, many jobs in SHP have gone before the mag gets to the customer!

It was Edward who posted the thread not Mark.

I suspect therein lies the answer - Nutty & Sharon refer to the "main" forum, whereas Brigham & Jane refers to the "members" forum.
Hope that clears up the mystery for you and keeps this thread on track.

Jon,
I've just done a search and it is on neither. It must have been lost (technical compter talk) when the web site encountered a problem yesterday.

I confirm that I placed a thread on the other Forum. The moderator was rather "sharp" and it was promptly removed.
My criticisms did not meet with approval. Perhaps they were too "plain" and factual. I shall pursue via other means, such as my local branch secretary and the specialist group to which I belong.

The thread in question was placed on the wrong forum - the open forum.
I can confirm it was removed. It is contrary to the Acceptable Use Guidelines for this site to make a complaint about an organisation, and that was one reason for its removal.
The second reason is that discussion of IOSH Policy should take place in the Members' Forum, and not the Discussion Forum.
Please note that we have strayed from the original subject of this thread and any further discussion should return to it.
