I live in Cambridgeshire, would like to do a H&S Diploma, however, I can not spare the time from work to take out 1 day a week or a large block of time, does anyone know about an evening class version?

Go to the NEBOSH web site. Look up course providers for the Diploma.
I believe that here is one in Peterborough that does evening courses. It will also give you distance learning providers.
Crack on.

I teach the Diploma; the bad news is that pass rates are low for distance learning. Best method is day release.

Does it have to be a Diploma? I have just completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Safety and Risk Management with the University of Strathclyde via distance learning. IOSH treat this as an equal to the diploma.
Don't get me wrong, the PGC course takes a large commitment and is hard going at times, but at the end of the day, the knowledge gained through the course is extremely valuable.
Hope this helps.

Garyh, are the pass rates published anywhere? I'm doing the Nat dip by distance learning and fortunately I'm scraping through (only just though!) It's certainly not an easy way to do it.

Thanks for the responses, my starting point was the NEBOSH website, I have found loads of distance learning courses and a few one day a week ones. What I was hoping if you could do the Diploma in a year one day a week maybe someone ran a course one evening a week for a year or something similar?

Hi Simon F
I would do the NEBOSH Diploma as it is widely recognised by UK Employers rather than other h & s quals, although you could also do a NVQ Level 4 if you wanted. Either way both routes take a high level of your own time to complete particularly the dip distance learning as I am doing to pass it all first time.
All the best on whatever route you take.

Simon F,
I completed the Diploma distance Learning with RRC and passed all Three examinations and assessments at the first attempt.
It does however take disciplined study. I studied for 2 hrs a night during the week and at weekends about 6 hrs a day.
Good Luck with your endeavours
