Please could someone offer advice

i have recently passed the NEBOSH General certificate (credit) and i am passionate about health and safety, however i am considering studying for either the Diploma or NVQ in the new year.

As seems to be the case i am looking for a break in health and safety.

i have over twenty years hands on experience in the warehouse sector but would consider any health and safety post to gain experience.

please contact me direct as i live in the north west area and have my own transport.

Hi Martin,

There are a lot of agencies out there offering work in the Health and Safety industry. You shouldn't have to much of an issue now you've got the Nebosh General, this will get you in the front door anyway and what you do from there is down to you. Do a google search and I'm sure you'll find a few that will take your fancy. Also check out SHP magazine (lots in there)

Good luck with your search

There are agencies that offer contract work, which is a great way of getting different experience and working on the days you want to.

I agree with the posts above re getting the first step.
With regard to studying you need to decide what type of studying you prefer. Do you like the academic approach and exams. Or are you more hands on and prefer the NVQ route. Obviously with the NVQ route you will need to be in the job to provide the evidence, however with the Diploma route you can study whilst trying to get your first step. the problem with this is if you are not in the H&S arena you may find problems in applying the theory in practice until you do get your first H&S job.

Remember the experience you have in your work life will be invaluable to you in the H&S so you need to convert some of the skills you have and apply them in H&S especially on your CV to get your foot in the door for interviews

Good Luck in your studies and finding your first H&S job.
