Posted By Jane Lowe I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience working in health and safety within stadiums (football, rugby, sports etc) in the UK either general or within the conference and banqueting department/food stands/bars. I am currently applying for a job in this field and wondered if there were any specific websites or books etc that I could look at to get further information. Any assistance would be appreciated I look forward to hearing from you Thanks

Posted By RS10 A good point of call is check out The Event Safety Guide (HSG 195). Lots of information about venue requirements, first aid, welfare issues etc. I would also look into the NVQ modules for crowd management/spectator safety which replaced the old FSQ modules for football grounds. You may also need to look at the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as any Security personnel used in stadia for the purposes of public order (search and ejecting) will need to be licensed as a Door Supervisor. Also any bar areas that require security will also require SIA badged staff etc. Finally, the Football safety officers association (FSOA) run various courses in stadia management. It depends what area of stadium management you are looking at?

Posted By D H Jane - contact your LA - they supply the license and will have minimum criteria that needs to be met. Local police department may also provide an insight? Dave
