Posted By bben36 Hello to all, Like many of the posted threads, I am trying to find employment within Health & Safety sector, which is proving to be difficult task at present. I am currently based in the Midlands area and I willing travel. I have a number of years experience within the H&S, 25 years in the forces and 3.5 years builders merchant, but not specific to a particular field. This has been the main stumbling block for myself. I have a number of qualifications (NEBOSH General, NVQ Level 4 Management)to name a few. This so far has not been enough to tempt any future employer. Can anyone give some advise, as the best place to post CV's, potential employers or hints of how they managed to over come this particular hurdle
Many thanks
Ben

Please don't take offence but H&S is not a sector or industry its a profession providing a service to every business in the country, across all sectors!!
Having got that off my chest my advice is to play to your strengths and the fantastic technical skills, experience of team working & can do attitude....you will have built up in the services and your expereince since.
Don't forget that a good H&S manager is just that a good manager who knows more that the average about H&S. If you are specifically seeking a full time H&S post then the better qualified in H&S you are, the better chance you have, but the alternative is a management position with substantial H&S responsibilities maybe as stepping stone - that how i started
Good luck

Posted By bben36 Thanks for the advice, all comments are welcome. Also thank you for your observation, on my wrong description of a profession. Any route in at the moment, would be of benefit. I am already a manager of builders merchant, although it is quite demanding, this is not quite fitting the bill, for what I believe I have a lot to offer the H&S profession. Once again thanks for the advice.
