Posted By Andrew Kelleher Hi everyone I am looking for a bit of advice. I am considering attending a CDM coordinator course (certified by the National Construction College) in view of supplementing my Nottingham and Trent Uni Diploma/NEBOSH general cert. Unfortunately I do not have a great deal of construction experience, and was wondering whether attending this course would improve my chances of breaking into the construction area. Thanx Andy

Posted By CW Andrew, check if the course is recognised by APS - http://www.associationfo...ectsafety.co.uk/home.php If it is it and you get points towards becoming a CDMC it won't hurt doing it, if it isn't I would say take one that is.

Posted By davidb2959 Andy I have no experience in construction either, I have also completed the NEBOSH Construction Certificate (CDM 2007) so I am having to work for free at the momet for a large Construction Company to gain experience. Even then, nothing is guaranteed. Recruitment Agencies have so many clients to choose from, just to get an interview is a blessing. All the best in your quest David

Posted By AHS My advice would be to do a NEBOSH Construction Certificate and an HNC in Construction otherwise you will probably not be competent.

Posted By graeme12345 spend your money on the const. cert. The best experience for const safety personnel is to have come from a trade background. If you want construction safety experience don't do the safety guts job get a job as a labourer. HTH's
