I have passed NEBOSH General Certificate and understand you only have to take the one unit for NEBOSH Construction ?
Is it possible to sit the exam only ? without taking a course or distance learning ?

Others may correct me but I believe not... having said that I saw an on-line Nebosh Contruction Cert course that could taken 'without support' which cut the cost... Try RMS

You should check the NEBOSH website.
From what I can recall and I apologise if you already know this, the NCC is split into 3 exams: a practical and 2 written, one of which is the NGC exam. People who have already obtained the NGC or Dip do not have to sit this exam but have to do the other two. They are based purely on construction so if you know construction offthe back of your hand, I think you can just apply to sit the exam at a local college that is running the course.
You dont get the benefit though of finding out what the practical is going to be based around.

Yes you can, I just did in January. I attended a NGC course lasting 6 months and successfully passed, I then was keen to do the same again for the NCC course but was not granted the time off work to attend. I then asked if I was allowed to take the exam without attending the course and was granted permission to do so. I still put the same amount of study time in, but was slightly easier because I only had to take one written exam and carry out the practical.

"Thank you for your enquiry, you can register with one of our Course Providers to just sit the examination as an external candidate, however not all of the centres offer this facility, please contact the course providers in your region direct, a full list is available on our website www.nebosh.org.uk. If you need any further assistance please telephone one of our Customer Service Team who will be happy to help you." Now i never knew that!!... I wonder how many do? Hope this helps

I sat the exam and had not been on a course. I passed but I imagine it would be a lot easier with a course or revision help.
