Posted By John Macartney Hello
I have been given the opportunity to study the Nebosh cert course by my employer, first though I have to put together something stating how I think the course will benefit myself and employer, in other words justify the cost to my employer.
Would it be possable for members who have been through this process to give me their views based on their actual experience, I am an engineering technician looking for a career change. Obviously I have my own idea's but value others input at this time.
Any advice on training providers near the central belt in Scotland?

I can't advise on trainers in central Scotland but i can say that like many people in the profession the first H&S qualification I took 12 years ago was NEBOSH Certificate, since then like many others I have progressed through higher qualifications to CMIOSH, and like you my background was in engineering.
I have never regretted the career change and taking NEBOSH certificate and getting some practical experience of risk assessment etc..is a great way to start
From your point of view its a chance for some personal development from your bosses point of view its a chance to get someone who can help deliver better health and safety and meet their legal requirements, who also knows the business.
You won't be a fully competent H&S advisor with NEBOSH cert but you will be on the way!!
Good luck!!

Posted By Mcham2705 Mines Rescue in Crossgates has recently advertised that they do the NEBOSH General Cert, think the course starts at beginning of April. Think it is done over 3 or 4 weeks.
I done the course at Reid Kerr College in Paisley on day release. I think the college in Falkirk also provides the course.
Hope this helps,
Martin
