Andrew

You can always do the NEBOSH Dip or equivalent course distance learning.

It works out a bit cheaper.

Needless to say, whatever option you take, it will be difficult, but rewarding.

Although, whenever one has to better themselves in terms of self financing / supporting h & s quals for the immediate betterment of the employer, then it is goodbye to your existing employer, in my opinion once you have a qual.

Good Luck

John

Hi Andrew.

You could do an NVQ in which case a lot of what you are doing at work would form the evidence for your portfolio, enabling much cheaper option.

Ask about electronic options.

You could pay for it yourself via a career loan, I found every time I have invested £1000 in myself this is paid back 10 fold.

We are all just commodities, and like these the more 'extras' we have, the increased value we are worth. And..in these times give you the edge over the pack.

Forget the widescreen 42" surround sound HD TV, invest in your own future if the business is not going to stump up.
