Can anyone advise me of any decent, reputable companies that offer PAT courses - money is very tight so would need to be cheapish? I live in Lincolnshire but can travel a reasonable distance.

Fed up of hearing clients say they are being ripped off by unscrupulous (apologies if I've spelt it wrong) people, so would prefer to offer them a decent reliable service from myself.

Also, I would like to gain more knowledge in order to offer the best service I possibly can, I am already undertaking the Dip (self-funded), are there any other courses I could do? Really fancy doing the Fire Cert - anyone had any good/bad experiences doing it? Anyone recommend somewhere local to me????

Please can you ONLY reply if you have any advice or VALID opinions

Thanks

chris

With PAT’s I recommend surfing the web if cost is an issue. I did mine at a place called Barlborough near the MI junction 30. That’s a bit of a distance from you in Lincolnshire. One a advantage is that you will transit through God’s county (Nottinghamshire) to get to it. They were good though, but there are many courses out there ranging from £195 and upwards. Don't forget you will need :30p each way for the bridge at Dunham if you go for them and travel on the A67.

As for fire you could try 08451 300616.

Hi

First Stop Safety run two different types of courses a short ½ day and an in-depth course the guys that run these courses are electrical engineers and have a vast amount of knowledge.

I have no interest in this company other than being a client.

AS you have probably seen on the intyweb there are numerous providers offering everything from CD based PAT courses to full blown training where you get to keep the testers.

When looking at the offerings consider what electrical experience you have (if any) myself having an M&E and electrical background I would go for one of the more basic options to firstly update my knowledge base and secondly refresh my skills. If you have no experience then go for the comprehensive course offerings and try to negotiate a deal.
