I have recently been asked to find a NVQ 4 course for myself which will be fully funded by my employer. This is not a course our training Officer has previously booked so i am asking fellow professionals for any good/bad course providers they may have come across. Any help would be appreciated as i completed Neebosh General in January and I'm now looking to start the NVQ course around December, Thanks Tommo

Posted By jmc The NVQ4 is work based and if you are with a small or mid size organisation you can create/gather evidence for your SVQ4.
if you are with a larger organisation it is likely they have a full H&S management system and you may find it will take you longer to gather the evidence for the SVQ4
So ask your company to let you away on day release for a BSc in occupational safety & health although this may take 2 years
Hope this helps

If you work for a large organisation with sufficient diversity of activity, NVQ4 should be OK whatever the status of the HSE management systems.
We employ 7000 in the UK and Ireland and 50000+ world wide, yet we have staff doing NVQ4 without serious difficulties.
Good luck, Peter

Posted By jmc Hi Peter
The point I was making is it is harder to get the evidence whilst working for a larger organisation.
As you stated in order to complete the SVQ4 which I recently have.
You must have sufficient diversity,
but also be able to create & implement new policy's/procedures and incorporate them into the organisations existing management system.
This was the reason I chose a organization where the role of H&S advisor was new,
as they had previously used a H&S consultancy
