Posted By Con.. What is the minimum amount of staff allowed in a hotel during the nite, in relation to fire safety and evacuation. In a Hotel where their are two buildings 400 yards appart, one with 32 rooms (3 storys) and the other with 20 room (2 storys) At present their is only one porter on his own from 2am to 7am. Is this legal?

Posted By Dave Westhead I think if you ask your local fire safety officers (local brigade), they will give you the information you require. Dave.

Posted By Douglas oshea Does the hotel have any live in staff and if so are these trained as fire marshalls? Again another question would be does the hotel have a Duty Manager and does they sleep over in case of such emergencies as fire or first aid etc. If you E mail me on Healthsafety1@aol.com I will send you a copy of a fire plan I devised for a hotel I was employed at.
