Posted By Clare Wilkinson I have currently designed and delivered generic Manual Handling Training for staff but have found that out Archival Store Dept need something more than this as they pick up boxes of archival info and take it back to the centre where it is stored. The boxes are stored in high units t which they use airline ladders to carry boxes up and down. It seems to me they neeed more training in techniques etc for this operation. Has anyone got any training material-Powerpoint presentation ot other so I can deliver this

Posted By John Ridd Special training for the workers may well be beneficial, but usually the main problem with archiving is that the boxes provided are larger than they should be and people fill them to the top leaving others to 'handle' the problem. Either smaller boxes or a strictly enforced weight limit (or both) should be as effective (if not more so) than special training.
