I have offered to look into comparable accident statistics for a company that runs a few teams of carpenters/labourers looking after building maintenance in multi-storey offices.
Can anyone help me please?
The company is quantifying their accident rate - when done, it would be ideal if they can be shown statistics for nearly equivalent sites/locations.
I envisage that somebody has benchmarked operations of this kind before, perhaps as a part of a broader look at Facilities Maintenance. Data or website addresses would be appreciated - if not for this specific type of activity then for the broader range of FM activities.

The HSE compare Accident Incidence Rates (AIR) against a Standard Industrial Classification for each type of industry. The Accident Incidence Rate is calculated by dividing the number of reportable accidents by the average numbers of employees and multiplying this by 100,000.
This then enables comparisons to be made for your industry.
See HSE Stats 2000/2001 (ISBN 0717621103).
Also Statistics.gov.uk/methods_quality/sic/contents.asp.
Hope this helps
