The "Mac183" reference on the page that Geoff pointed you at, and a lot of the other Mac183s that turn up in a web search are artefacts created by buggy visual web page editors (Adobe Golive and Microsoft Frontpage seem to be the main culprits) the majority of other references I found in a web search appeared to refer to machine numbers in web server farms.
I found a reference which doesn't appear to fall into the above categories and may be relevant - in a Dutch web page on sewage sludge treatment. It appears to refer to a plasticiser added to PVC. Might this be it?
