Posted By Peter J Harvey Tony, I work for a DLO providing housing maintenance thoughts might include: Job safety - stress implications? Training - most DLO's provide an ongoing detailed training programme for employees - would the HA commit to this? Team work - Again the flexibility offered by a large infrastructure allow for team work even where a schedule of rates is used, no team work, more risk. Risk of violence - does the HA have access to a violence register and the ability to provide that information to the workforce? Deliveries to site - we provide a delivery system to site, reducing the Manual Handling task, could the HA do this? Specialist advice - most LA's provide a range of support (Occ Health, safety inspections etc) to the workforce, this might not be the case with the HA. In fact I could go on for hours, but then I would support the LA, contact me direct if I can be of more help.

Posted By Stuart Nagle I take this would be a TUPE transfer of rights. I would assume therefore that training and refresher training, support and duties of care are applicable also. In the most part, being both an ex Local Authority Client Engineer and a former DLO superintendant and tradesman, I have seen most such transfers that I am aware of work well, and some really prosper. Stress... well that is to be expected with the idea of losing and gaining a job at the same time. Everyone is bound to feel a little uncertain. However, in most instances all those doing the job now will transfer, and most will be doing similar if not the same job in the new Association. Fear nough, put your faith in the future and good luck to you.... I'me sure you will survive and thrive. best regards... Stuart Nagle
