Posted By Katie This may sound like a curious question but is there any specific legisation that outlines the health and safety requirements for historical reenactments events? Such events include battle reenactment with various weapons such as Pikes, Swords and Archers, and I assume will require the usual risk assessments. However how does this impinge on the public and what provisions must be in place before one hosts such a large scale, often dangerous but fun packed event? Hope this provides a some what unusual distraction from the riggors of health and safety at work. Thank you in advance.

Posted By Bryn Maidment Katie Have you tried a search on this subject in the archive? (try 're-enactments') There was a lively debate on this subject about a year ago - ran to many pages with some very differing views Bryn

Posted By Ken Taylor If there is any employment involved it will come under the HASAW Act and there may be a requirement for an entertainment licence from the local authority which will establish conditions. The main relevant HSE guidance is HSG195 The Event Safety Guide.
