Posted By Andy Beveridge Please can someone advise me on where to find info on the height of each tread on a stairway? I need to put stairs/steps in to give access to a 'mezzanine' level and want to ensure the gap between the steps is correct. Any guidance/advice gratefully received. Best regards Andy

Posted By Ken Taylor See Approved Document K to the Building Regulations or, for industrial type stairs, ladders, etc, see BS5395: Part 3.

Posted By Robert K Lewis You don't actually state the type of building this is, eg Office, Public Building or warehouse etc. The design codes are within the BS series but don't try to design them yourself as this is a route to many problems. The cost of a manufactured set is not that great compared to the time taken to design it yourself, manufacture the item and certify its fitness for use. Also further problems are encountered as there are differentiations between partially ambulant tread rise and goings and those for able bodied only. Bob
