My maintenance manager has asked if I can find any way of measuring the vibration in some of our machinery. He wants to use this as part of a planned maintenance schedule, checking for vibration in drive shafts etc. on a regular basis.
Can anyone out there point me towards a supplier of such test/measurement equipment?
Does anyone do this type of testing already?
many thanks in anticipation.
Best regards
Andy

The measurement of vibration is an activity that requires expertise and specialist equipment. The Industrial Noise and Vibration Centre (INVC) at Slough run 2 day 'Vibration Management' courses on the techniques of measuring vibration and how to manage the problem. The course also includes advice on the equipment to be purchased by companies that wish to do their own vibration monitoring. Alternatively, INVC will carry out vibration monitoring for clients on a consultancy basis.
I have attended the 2-day course and thought that it was excellent, however, the equipment required to do your own monitoring is not cheap!
The telephone number for INVC is 01753 698800 and their email is consult@invc.co.uk
I hope this helps.

Try Development Engineering (www.dei-ltd.co.uk)who provide condition monitoring software and training. They are part of SKF as are Daignostic Instruments (www.diaginst.co.uk) who make the vibration measuring hardware.
