Posted By stephen j mills Michelle, There is no legal requirement to provide SANITARY DRESSINGS, only a need to provide a means for their disposal. However a caring employer may feel it prudent to make such a provision as a gesture to their staff

Posted By Nick Higginson Michelle, Have to agree with Stephen. The Workplace (health, safety and welfare) regs 1992 approved code of practice says that there has to be a means for disposing of sanitary dressings, it doesn't say you have to supply them. Having said that, why would you remove one that is already there? Nick

Posted By Debbie Rose No not a legal requuirement, but again to take a facility away without due conultation with your staff appears a little insensitive. Is the machine used? Is their a good reason for taking it out?

Posted By Richard Oh come on! Saying there is no legal requirement is a bit like saying there is no legal requirement to supply toilet paper! I would suggest adequate sanitary facilities would include the provision of such machines, regardless of the letter of the law. Funnily enough I had a similar enquiry last month - my employer wanted to remove all the machines except one! Have the suppliers recently increased their charges or something? Richard
