Posted By Haroon Rasheed Tabani To safely egress from the cabin of an overhead crane, there should be a safe provision in place for the operator. Someone mentioned me about rope ladder and/or installing a safety lane. Can anyone further guide me in the matter particularly details related with SAFETY LANE supplier etc. Thanks H. Posted By Nicki Hi Haroon, I work in the telecomms sector and spend much of my life 100m + up structures. Although, cranes are not my area,I have a lot of experience of high access rescue. Normal "self rescue" method is drop a rope, operative puts on full body harness, attaches to rope with a descender and lowers self to the ground. This is very simplified and requires a good deal of training. However, if you are stuck on a very high structure (crane) this is usually the only emergency way down. Look at www.petzl.com who are a major supplier of the equipment and they also have some pratical advice on their site. Regards Nick Heathfield Safety Manager TTI Services Ltd
